Yeah, that is the very work we've been discussing for the past 6 or 7 posts.

What did you think about the product and the issues we've described here with it?

D'oh! I tried to post yesterday to mention this product when teh boards went down. I signed in today & the 1st thing I wanted to do was get it posted. I didn't bother to see if someone else had allready mentioned it

I have not actualy purchased it. I just saw it yesterday about 10 minutes before reading this post. At that time, no one else had mentioned it as a source for WWII realism. :)

Like I said, I'm not a total firearms expert, but I had the same issue with their small arms section as I've had in several other works portraying this approximate time period. Dana, if you read this and can shed some light on it for me, I'd appreciate your input.

I can't come up with any justification for the different damage dice for weapons of the exact same caliber. Even comparing pistols to SMGs, the difference in performance isn't enough to justify different damage dice. It's probably the result of some perverse sense of game balance. LOL

Thanks Dana, I pretty much came to the same conclusion. Usually the difference in most d20 works between things like pistol/SMG is attempted in the range increment to compensate for the additional accuracy/velocity/whatever. I'm not sure, though, how having a Springfield 1903 with the same damage as a .50 cal MG balances; must be some of that statistical acrobatics stuff. Unfortunately, I didnt take that one in school. :D

I'm guessing the additional limitation on bolt-actions falls onto the same tightrope; you wouldn't want someone taking multiple shots with a 1903 in the same round if it does d12's as a base die of damage.

Well, it was a good book anyway, but I'll stick to the weapons list that I've culled from various books, forums, and a good bit of educated advice by Dana and a few other gun guys on the forums.

Well, don't forget I'll start rolling out WW2 weapons in the next couple of weeks. Big Bang Vol. 5 is grenades, Vol. 6 is German Weapons of WW2.

I cant wait man.

My players will love getting their hands on some fun grenades, even though they seem to do more damage to themselves and their equipment than to the bad guys with them.

I look forward to your treatment of German Weapons too.

Keep us posted.

If you do grenades, be sure to include Blendkörper and Gewehrblendgranate. I'm at a loss as to how to write those up. Hey, any chance you'll start including plain d20 stats (like from CoC and VforV) instead of just d20 Modern stats?

They're just smoke grenades. I don't know the average cloud dimensions for them offhand, but I generally work on smoke grenades generating 1/5 their average cloud size per round (cloud will reach full size in 30 seconds), and dissipates after 2 minutes (20 rounds).

As for D20 plain, I doubt I'll be doing stats for it. I only own a handful of books beyond the PHB & DMG, and none of them are even remotely modern in setting.

And ledded, Vol 5 is modern grenades. A few do date back to WW2 (Russian grenades) and Korea (U.S.), but not many.
