Daemons, Yugoloths, and other NE things: Tell me about them in your games

Cunning.

Above all else, the Yugoloths are pragmatic and cunning, and they understand "types/constraints" of evil as well as the vulnerabilities of good.

Fiends are among my favorite (top 3) monsters, and Yugoloths are my favorite fiends.

I think of Yugoloths at low levels as "mobsters" and at high levels as masons/illuminati (but both to the nth degree).

Aberzanzorax (my username) is taken from a major player in my campaign who the PCs never realized was a major player, never mind defeated him.

He's an Ultroloth lichfiend of blasphemy, with three phylacteries (one of which is the heart of a solar). I admit, the similarities between him and Voldemort are present, though he's hardly similar overall in terms of ambition, scale, or action.

I have been busy lately, and didn't even know your book was coming out (so I don't own/haven't read it). But OMG! You just informed me of what will likely be my very favorite christmas present (even if I buy it for myself).

I'll hopefully be able to provide accolades and feedback after the holidays.

I've never made good use of yugoloths in my games. I've emphasized demons vs devils and used plenty of outsiders and had some planar trips, but he yugoloths have gone underused. I see a niche for a purer form of evil, definitely. I'd like to use them, if I ever get the chance.

Also thought I'd note that I listened to Know Direction's review of the book and was very intrigued, much more so than usual. Seems like a really distinctive take on the material.

I just listened to them last night, and *blush* I'm incredibly flattered by what they said. And given their reviews of other stuff from Paizo, they aren't afraid to knock a product on its shortcomings, so I trust that they're honest about mine and what they thought about it. Dang that made me happy :D

Since MM2 and earlier I have always used them as minions of Tharizdun, his personal demon/devil corp as it were.

So they are slightly mad, but cunning, and know that in the end its all going to be sucked into the black hole of entropy that is Tharizdun (if they know of their origin, some younger ones may not).

It may LOOK like they are playing and balancing both sides (devils/demons, law/chaos) but they are really subverting everything. Ultimate bait and switch!
