Damage from Armor from Lycanthrophy

It looks like it was errated at one point. Personally I suspect it was one of those "make all things conform" errata that get tacked on because one group forgets there can be exceptions to creature type/size rules. Like how owl bears had been int 5 and chaotic evil for a long time IIRC before 3e rolled around but got busted down to int 2 because of creature typing rules.

Monster Manual Web Errata V.3182002 © 2002 Wizards of the Coast, Inc.
p. 193, The ape's face/reach entry should read 5 ft. by 5 ft./10 ft.

That's actually a good reason. Having any creature be Large (tall) and not have reach is clearly a mistake based on the rules on sizes of creatures.

That, however, I have no idea why they changed it (assuming you're right about the 5 int). Owlbears are magical beasts, so the change doesn't even conform to anything. Magical beasts have no limits on Int. Are you thinking of Animals or something?

You are correct it should be a large creature. But the DM and I decided that rather then have the character get the full effect right away we designed it to progress from a benefit standpoint over three levels like a prestige class. My character has the only one of two clerics in this world so a cure isn't likely. Also he contracted it directly from an artifact of the Moon and Madness Diety which will evenually become my character's diety.

So for his first change he will be medium but he will wreck the armor trying to get out of it. 1st edition had damage rules I was wondering if 3.5 had them as well

Thanks for the write up it helped

Then good news! There will be no damage to your armor. In fact, one can even make the argument that you can continue to wear the armor in hybrid form and fully benefit formt he AC.

Referencing the quote above, you only do damage to the armor if you change into a larger size. Medium to medium means no damage.

Thanks

He won't be able to wear the armor at first he doesn't have the Hybrid from for the first 2 levels. I plan on having him spend the first transformation tearing away his armor and either fleeing from the scene or attacking randomly anyone around him. Now at least he won't be hurt by the armor as was my initial thoughts
