Damage reduction 30/fire

Wow!

Look at all those responses. It came from the pyro prestige class in the Psionics Hand Book. I use the revised version, but both give that weird damage reduction thing. I suppose I could use the rules for web, but I have absolutely no idea what they are. Webs are weak against fire. Aren't pyros supposed to be strong against fire?

methinks someone mixed up resistance and damage reduction somehow???

No, I'm still confused. It's not reducing damage from fire, since it takes the first 2d6 points of fire damage as subdual damage. I'm so confused, I'll email the author of the PsiHandbook. The addition of the "+2" might make it different for DR 5/fire that a web gets.
