Damage Reduction and Sneak Attack damage

This here is the rules topic of the forum, if you want to have it handled in a different way, go over to house rules and ask there.
It is clear as it is written, that SA works regardless of the initial damage without SA breaks the DR or not. There is nothing to discuss.
Maybe I could even make something up that would make you believe that the current system is not nonsense, but I don't have any motivation to do so.

I haven't said that I want to change that. I only said that I think it is stupid like many thinks in D&D which I don't change in my games.

I have said how it works and what I personally think from this rule, you have asked why, I have answered.
So please a bit less hostility, ok?

No problenm with that, you can do as you please in your games.

I did never ask, in the first place.

If it comforts you, sure.

The only time I find it a bit non-sensical is when the DR is clearly supernatural, eg werewolves and silver, Baldur and mistletoe, rakshasa and blessed crossbow bolts, etc.

It doesn't come up enough to be worth the added complexity of having multiple DR systems, IMO. The current system does a good job of making it desirable to have the proper weapons without making it necessary.

But natural armore and thick skin represents AC, not DR.

DR is extremly fast healing or very strong armor that you can't bypass unless you are strong enough or have the right weapon.
No, unless you're using a house rule, DR is not armor of any sort. As you said, armor (natural or otherwise) represents AC, not DR.

"[D]amage reduction is instant healing. ... [or it] represents the creature's tough hide or body, such as with a gargoyle or iron golem." (DMG, pg 292, first column, third paragraph)

In relation to the instant healing, as I said before, it doesn't mean you don't pierce the hide. A rogue can still pierce a creature's flesh to strike a vital organ underneath.
