Damage reduction... Does it stack?

Does damage reduction stack? For example, imagine a high level Barbarian with damage reduction of 3, getting Stoneskin cast on him/her...

You use the best kind of DR for any specific situation.

e.g.

DR 5/magic and DR 5/silver.

When attacked by someone with a +1 sword, the DR 5/silver is used, and the damage is reduced by 5.

When attacked by someone with a masterwork silver sword, the DR 5/magic is used.

When attacked by someone with a +1 silver sword, you're up the creek.

I would imagine that this same rule applies to DR/--, and that if stoneskin is cast, then the character enjoys DR 10/adamantine. Unil attacked by someone with an adamantine weapon. At which point their DR becomes DR 3/--.

So in my example (ie the Barbarian with Stoneskin), would it stack? Since Stoneskin is 10/Adamantium and the barbs natural DR is 3/- I assume it wouldnt... In this example then would the Barb have 10/adamantium against everything except adamantium, in which case he would get 3/- ?

Edit: OK someone already answered for me thanks.

OK so how about if the same Barb with 3/- puts on a magic ring which gives DR of 5/- ? Since they are same type would he get 8/- or would it just become 5/- because thats the higher one?

Generally they will say if they stack. The Barbarian DR description does not say it will stack with another like DR, so it is incumbent upon the other source to say "This DR stacks with all other like-flavored DR". If it's not in the ring's description, I'd say they don't stack, as DR generally doesn't.

The "Roll With It" feat (or perhaps it's Thick Skinned) from Savage Species specifically states that the benefit from the feat stacks . It should say something like that.
