Dangerous Delves Preview II

Like the first preview, these are hit and miss.

All miss for me, this time. No need for another Medusa Archer or Yuan-ti. I don't like the Harpy and the Unicorn doesn't fit my conception of one. Snakes I have in abundance and can't say much from that photo anyway. What a shame since of the last batch only the Gnoll was definite a disappointment to me. I was running a likely 80% to the good and now am at least 60% to the bad.

Guys, I said *most* green snakes, not *all* green snakes. I'm well aware there's green poisonous snakes all over the world it's just they are, as far as I remember, minority.

In school they teached me how to separate poisonous from non poisonous snakes (looonbg time ago). A green snake touch my hand when I was a kid and I wasn't afraid at all. As I said, where I live, southern Brazil, I never saw a poisonous green snake. That's all

Exactly, Boomslang's head is what you'd expect on a non poisonous snake.

The unicorn sculpt is good but needs a complete repaint, which defeats the damn purpose of prepainted minis

The medusa archers is pretty good, but i already have several plastic and metals ones. She'd make a good yuan-ti archer too

The big yuan-ti is cool, i like him, i could use several.

Maybe it's the pic, but the harpy looks like she doesn't have a face. The dress makes her look too civilized. The first harpy DDM released was great, they should have just brought it back.

The snake swarm doesn't look great, but again, the pic is so bad i can't tell.

I don't know if you've seen this link, but these are some impressive repains of the DDM line. Which, again, defeats the purpose, but it also goes to show what some talent and effort can pull off...

First: I own a ton of these, so take that for what it is worth....

Second: they almost always look better in person. The heroes packs that came out yesterday look 100x better in person than on line. We bought half of them (mostly because my son wanted to).

Third:
medusa looks like the best sculpt so far, but some variety would be nice.
snake swarm: impossible to tell from picture
yuanti: the early models are still better than teh new ones. It isn't the art, so it must be the execution.
unicorn: I like this sculpt and paint job, actually
Harpy: alter the sculpt so the dress is torn (if you need one), add some 'dirt' paint, and you have a harpy. This is a bird woman, that could be an old fashioned angel with a different paint job.

Paint job-wise, I don't like the spots on the unicorn and this is suppose to be the visible rare. Harpy is another miss for me, the blue dress just seems wrong.

The medusa and yuan-ti are probably the best ones for me in this box. The snake swarm is too generic so I wouldn't be bothered.

What I am concern about is that the medusa appears to be the common while the harpy is the rare. Which feels strange to me 'cause I could use more harpies than medusas.

The article says that the medusa is a rare. That's disappointing for me because it means I could buy a case and not get one, or I could end up having to spend $25 on one miniature which I don't want to do.

Two things:

No rare is going to be $25 as a single on line, unless something odd happens in this set. They'll likely be $2-3 more than they were the last few sets.

The visibles are not rares. They are as common as an uncommon.

third thing : the minis previewed are not representative of a box, unless I'm misunderstanding something.

Yeah, don't worry about the medusa being $25, it will never happen, it won't be popular enough. A rare beholder on the other hand...

Big hit for me. This is like Ktulu's minis he needs for his friggin' game set.

Seriously, in my campaign, Medusae are part of the Yuan-ti; agents who drank the blood-of-zehir. I use snake-swarms, and can't get enough of them. Wow. Talk about getting me excited.

Favorites are, without a doubt, the Yuan-ti and the Medusa. I think the picture is bad on the Med and the mini will look great. Didn't need another Unicorn, but s'cool. Harpy looks allright (better than the other versions).
