A new comic book featuring a group of classic Dungeons & Dragons monsters working together is due out later this year. Dark Horse has announced Dungeons & Dragons: Total Party Killers, a new comic book written by Christopher Hastings, illustrated by Denis Medri, colored by Dan Jackson, and lettered by Lucas Gattoni. The series is due out for release in July 2026.

The comic will feature a group of five monsters - a lycanthrope, gelatinous cube, mind flayer, death knight, and baby beholder - who team up to free themselves from the effects of a dead wizard's spell. Hastings is best known for his more comedic style (he notably co-created the character GwenPool for Marvel Comics and wrote the popular webcomic The Adventures of Dr. McNinja), so it's likely this comic will have plenty of tongue-in-cheek humor as well.

Dark Horse took over the Dungeons & Dragons comics license from IDW earlier this year. This is Dark Horse's second comic series, following a miniseries featuring The Fallbacks, a group of adventurers who have also appeared in novels and illustrations for the 2024 rulebooks.

Not sure how a gelatinous cube works as a party member, but what the heck its a fun idea.
From the illustartion, it looks like a pack mule haha

Sounds kind of interesting. Not sure about the composition of the group (I like weirder creatures), but might be a fun romp (like Superior Foes of Spider-Man or Secret Society of Super-Villains).

It is funnier for me because yesterday or before I found in youtube a video about a D&D party with "exotic" species and the final surprise was a.. (Don't worry, the link is to the English-languange version).

I see this bets for fantasy comedy and I guess it can work good. When there is a saturation of isekai manga with overpowered main characters maybe we needed this to keep it fresh.

If there are good vibes between WotC and Dark Horse we could hope future "collabs" or licencings, couldn't we?

OMG! I was at high school in the begining of 90s when I bought the first Dark Horse comics of Aliens and Predator. I also bought the Star Wars comics years before the "Phantom Menace"
