Essentials, I think too few realize, is being needlessly played off as some kind new system (I think it was done to drum up sales).
But the strange thing about the debate comes down to this. This is precisely what WotC told us Essentials was going to be from the get-go.The information we have now clearly indicates it's still just really more options for 4E and a consolidation of rules elements into cheaper starting books.
From what I understand.
1) Themes won't work with well with the new Essentials classes.
2) The Darksun book has feats divided by tier, which Essentials is set to remove from the game.
3) It also has magic items without the new magic items rarity rules that will be errata-ed into the game come Essentials.
