DarkSun / Sandstorm; viable?

The only thing I was having trouble figuring in was Psionics... I *think* that Psi would best be handled via feats (actually, a feat mastery tree that everyone has access too based on character level). The only situation that this doesn't cover are those Psionicists who only do psionics (not fighting or magic).
Have you considered the Expanded Psionics Handbook?

And what product would that be? The WotC published one? The problem is, in Dark Sun, very few practitioners of psionics are dedicated psions. They mostly have a single ability that they can use at an amatuer level.

Perhaps when looking at all psi-users as a whole, but that's because psionics is so darn common. There's definitely no shortage of dedicated psions. It's the most common path to supernatural powers, I'd say - the cities outlaw wizards, treat clerics neutrally, are highly suspicious of druids (when the god-king rulers of the cities are wizards that drain the land's energy with their spells, they don't want druids around), and being a templar intrinsically requires government service, psionics are pretty much the preferred method of getting "magic" stuff. All the cities have significant academies dedicated to teaching the Way, as psionics are called.

Now, a proper conversion of Dark Sun to 3rd edition needs to include wild talents, but it also needs to account for people dedicating their lives to the study of psionics.
