Not terribly excited. Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones didn't fail to wow me because they weren't dark and violent enough. They failed to wow me because of bad writing. Bad writing can happen with any tone.

And in re:Clones as a better action movie -- really? I seriously intend no snarkiness, but while I liked Clones better a bit overall, I was really unimpressed by the fight scenes. In Menace, I felt as though I had waited the entire movie for the big fight at the end, but at least the big fight at the end was cool. With Clones, my thinking ran roughly, "Okay, not great, but the big fight is at the end, okay, I'm just waiting for the big fight, and... Okay, Kenobi wasn't wonderful, but it's good setup for the duel between Anakin and... um... he's just standing there... they're doing stupid camera edits to make this look like a good swordfight, but really, they're... this is dull, man... and why would you hold your arm out to the side like that? For cryin' out loud!" And then the Yoda fight, which was fun, but not the visceral "Trying to kill each other" that I got from the Phantom Menace fight with Darth Maul -- whatever the other flaws of the movie.

But mileage will vary. As I said, no snarkiness intended. It just didn't work for me that way, for whatever reason.

(And on a different note, the Imperial March is still a truly impressive piece of music. It doesn't matter what I'm doing, or how deeply I'm involved in it. That sucker comes on in the background, as part of a TV commercial or something, and my attention is riveted.)
You're damn right there. That piece can still make my hair stand. Between watching the movies and playing the videogames for hours, I have developed some kind of Pavlov reflex for the SW soundtrack.

I read the book the day it came out. Anticipation went from nearly nil to through the freakin roof! Please, oh please, let the movie be half as good as the book make it to be and I will be a happy, happy man.

I'm with you, Mouseferatu. I promised myself I would not get overly excited about the thrid film, yet find myself getting moreso with each passing day. I have managed to remain spoiler free, which will only help me enjoy the movie more (I hope). I'm not going to any midnight showing, but will probably go sometime that opening weekend (which is also the weekend I graduate, so timing may be tricky).

hopefully, a. skywalker will kill jar jar binks in a very brutual fashion to become darth vader.

Skywalker can't kill Jar Jar. I mean he's gone OVER to the dark side. Jar Jar is his second strongest ally next to the emporer. I mean you got the following three people that embody all that is evil within the force.

1. Emporer

2. Jar Jar

3. Darth Vader.

Who called for the vote that destroyed the Republic, hmmmm?

Only a True Jedi of the Force like Yoda or Mace Windu could kill Jar Jar & purge that great cancer from the universe.

hmmm... I must be easier to please than most of you. While I didn't find TPM and AOTC to be as good as the original trilogy, I didn't hate them. I enjoyed them, while recognizing that they were lesser movies. I won't see ROTS on opening night either; the only SW movie I did see on opening night was ROTJ, way back in my college days in MT. I'll wait a couple weeks for the rabid fans to clear out some...

But remember, there can only be a master and a apprentice - maybe that´s what Anakin is supposed to do - rebalance the force to ensure that there are only two evil forces - The Emperor and Darth Vader :) No space for Jar Jar...

Before the Spy Reports started leaking a year or two ago, I tried to keep expectations low. But ever since those, its just been better and better things leaking out.

And now, we're starting to get the first reviews, not just Smith's. Sure, I didn't like the other two Prequels as much as the originals, but Star Wars is Star Wars, and it is...well, pointless to resist. :)

I'll be there at midnight. I may even be wearing my Jedi robes. And dammit, I'll be there again the next day in the afternoon.
