Well, hopefully you got your answer BeholderBurger (hmm, does Betty Crocker make BeholderBurger Helper?).

I think what got people riled up was a) the inappropriate language for a family-safe forum, and b) the fact that even after people told you who I was by telling you what I'd done in the past, you seemed to not be interested in an actual answer.

I myself have no other answer for you than "I ran Eric Noah's Unofficial D&D Third Edition News from August 1999 to August 2001."

and, briefly, in April of 2002. ;)

I was sticking up for a principle, actually. Yes, I have principles, hard as that may be for some to believe ;)

What I was objecting to was what seemed like a swarming, the kind of thing you see plaguing the internet everywhere. Basically, people who have been part of a community for a while begin to drive away newcomers by descending on them en masse, ridiculing and berating them until they leave. It wasn't that bad here, but I just got a bit riled because I know this community is better than that. I was thinking more about non-game related boards I've seen where it gets really nasty. I'm sorry if it came off that I was up on my high horse.

From my RPG Page:
My published articles on role-playing games are "Hitting the Books" (DRAGON #212) and "Right from the Start" (DRAGON #208).

These types of articles would NEVER fly in the new Dragon Magazine, btw. Not enough crunchy bits. :D
Cool! I have both those issues. Actually those types of articles were always the ones I enjoyed most. I miss seeing more roleplaying type articles in Dragon. I remember reading Hitting the Books and wishing I had a game to try this stuff out on. Crunchy bits are great most of the time but at some point you just end up with more material than you'll ever use. I'd like to see more idea generating articles in Dragon again. Have you submitted any more articles lately?

No, no reason to nowadays -- the internet allows me to spout off as much as I need to. :D

geez ... it's not like there's a website that was ever devoted to you or anything ... *wolf looks around* ... oh wait :D

As for expletives - someone new might not know the rules of the board. This board is very unusual in its strictness and consistency with that. The vast majority of boards are lightly moderated, if at all, and are very rough-and-tumble.

I thought when I registered for the boards, I got a warning about Eric's gramma. But I can't find that warning anymore.

However, this comes from Burger's first post:

Moderator's Notes

1) No expletives here - not ever by disguising them with asterisks and definitely not in the subject of your post.

2) You are new here, so I'll cut you some slack.

That's pretty gosh-darn clear to me; after receiving this warning, he knew what he was doing.

and considering that he injected:

I think I may have just took a turd in my panties.
Oh no .....urghhhh.

into a thread about how to roleplay paladin morality, I'm not weeping big weepy tears.

We'll see if you can contribute positively to conversations, BB. I hope you can.

Daniel
