I crit!
3rd was built in ideas from 1e-2e and the basic sets and internal ideas and plans. Plus from the designers that hales from the likes of Ars Magica and other games that took left turns from the norm at the time. I do agree that there was a ton of talented genious at TSR/WotC designing 3rd ed.
