Dawning Star Update

Thanks to all the people who have contacted me about the status of Dawning Star. We appreciate your interest. Although it seems the project bears a minor curse (not an Iron Kingdoms-sized curse, mind you, just a minor one), we are now back on track.

Most recently, our art director, Gary Simpson had a run-in with a certain Hurricane Frances. But he's safe and sound in the hurricane-free midwest and locked-in. (For the record, I myself suffered a week without power/phone/internet.)

For those of you who have been on Mars (or just Central Florida), Dawning Star is a brand new, high-adventure, science-fiction campaign setting built with d20 Modern and powered by d20 Future. If you haven't downloaded Dawning Star: Ignition yet, what the heck are you waiting for?

Dawning Star: Operation Quick Launch is the 96-page, full color introduction to the campaign setting and will be released in pdf format. This is not some half-concocted beta test. Rather, it is a carefully crafted introduction to the setting, and will be fully playable. It's a "firm" science setting, which is to say that everything is grounded in science, but we don't let the science get in the way of the adventure. It will have a good balance of crunch and fluff and even includes a full adventure. Finally, a real campaign setting and not just a "model" like the ones you've been teased with since d20 Future's release. We had originally slated release for September 20th, but now we're honing in on early October due to the disruption from Frances.

The Dawning Star Campaign Setting will be a 256-page print version of the full campaign setting. We are still exploring options for the final format, but it will certainly include some color and all of Gary's great art and graphics. This will be released in early 2005.

If you have any questions about the project, feel free to post them here or visit our dedicated forum
