DC Comics/Paradox Press Customer Service?

Zoatebix

Working on it
So I bought a copy of Scott McCloud's Understanding Comics yesterday and today the binding is falling apart. I'm only half kidding when I say that I'm afraid to open Reinventing Comics.

George is a sad kitten.

Anyone else have any problems with bindings recently? Anyone know if Paradox Press (I think that's the imprint that publishes the edition I bought) would be nice to me?

Almost any publishing company would like to know if there are binding problems with their books. If you're polite and ask for a replacement I wouldn't be surprised if you get one. Offer to send them your old copy so they have more information about the binding failure when they approach their printer.

Definately - thanks Joe B! I was planning on sending back my crumbling copy (once I found out some contact information) but I had no idea that doing so could be useful to the publisher as well as courteous. You learn something new everyday.

In case anyone else is in the same pickle, this is the closest thing to an official website I could find with 35 seconds of Google or so (hey - I'm up past my bedtime ;)): http://www.dccomics.com/graphic_novels/?cat=PARADOX+PRESS

It looks like contacting DC is the way to go - but not until morning for me.

Does anyone dealt with DC customer service? I have no idea how to contact them! No phone number, no email address, no nothin'. The "contact us" link on their website is for some kind of "ask the editor" collumn or something. I'll try that tomorrow or Monday if nothing else comes up.

Thanks everyone!

George, if you can't contact them, bring it back to Atlas comics and see if Beau will exchange it for you. If you still have your receipt, it'll make things easier.

This is the first thing you should do if you get a defective book, take it back to the store you bought it from, even before trying to contact the publisher. It's their responsibility to replace it (they send it back to the publisher and are reimbursed for it), if they won’t you shouldn’t be shopping there. Of course this doesn’t apply if you bought it used.

Thanks everyone! I think that maybe I've been spoiled by seeing all the RPG publishers on these boards offering direct replacements when they get word that a product of theirs is defective. Back to Atlas I go, once I have some free time.
