DDi CB & Windows 7

Did you try running it with both windows firewall off and Norton 360 off?

If it works then, turn windows firewall back on but leave Norton off.

If it still works- it's norton.

If it doesn't then do the opposite to see if it's windows firewall...

If neither help the situation- and it's possible bypass the router and go directly from you modem. Some routers have built in firewall stuff.

Well, I have windows 7 ultimate 64bit with IE8 and MS Security Essentials and the CB works (in as far as it works). I am behind a router, it could be the router firewall.

I can verify that it is possible to run CB under Windows 7 32-bit using Chrome and Security Essentials. It can be a lot of things, I'm afraid. I would start by making sure Windows is fully updated, especially any Silverlight updates that might be around. Of course, you might have done that long ago.

I've been running the CB without issue on Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit with Firefox 3.6 and Microsoft Security Essentials. I believe I granted Silverlight an exception in my Windows Firewall.

Ok Netflix player works fine so I'm guessing it's not silverlight.

It also runs on my xp machine that has Norton on it... Man, every WoTC product I've been disappointed in has involved software. Well, 90% of them.

I gave up for the night but now I have the laptop on a public network and the CB is working like gangbusters (and yes, I do mean the old TSR 1920's gangland style RPG, in that it's working but not particularly well due to inherent design issues).

So it has to be the router, right?

Ok here's the latest: it works when I use the google chrome new tab 'most recent sites' link. I bypass the CB launch page and silverlight countdown starts right away and all is well. If I try to go through the default page and click 'launch', it stalls out.

I worked in QA for a while. This is a bug and i'm logging it. Hope they fix it before launch!

Interesting... It might be a bug- so yeah good to report it. If it's a bug then it'll show... I use chrome and haven't had the issue you describe. Have you tried it in a browser other then chrome?
