DDI Changes - PH3 Previews! New price

There is a lot of Dollars floating around here in this thread. What about euro and sterling??? I'm currently paying in sterling, converts to around €17 - I think - for the three month-er.

I've tried being a non-sub to DDI, but I didn't like being a DDI outsider, so it is worth it to me to have to light reading three time a week in work.

I don't remember the exact price in €. ;) I just know it looked fine to me for a yearly expense.

I totally agree that the website requires a redesign. My first step usually is to go to the Editorial Calendar and go from there, it's a lot easier to see which articles are new then. The primary content that I feel like I am paying for are still the individual articles and the PDF compilations (plus the Character Builder yadayadayada), and those are good. Still shouldn't stop them from reworking their starting page.

For those in the EU, note that we/some of us have to pay 15% VAT on this transaction, due to recent electronic services tax harmonisation.

I'm not 100% sold. We had PHB2 classes previewed with no raising price...

I expect the extra cash will be used to create a new and improved website, one login for every function (RPGA, forums, DDI, Help...).

Yes, but that isn't what they are offering here.

1) Coming out way earlier.
2) Much greater percentage of info.

I LOVE the fact that this stuff is coming out early enough that MAYBE some review of the rules before permanent release will happen/

The price increase should tno be a surprise to anyone. They've said time and again that the old price was an introductory, lower price unitl they got more things running.

They'v got more things running since then - and will probably get more stuff running soon (I hope).

I find the DDi stuff very good, the character builder is vastly better than the messy 3rd ed one (no offence ot Code Monkeys, who were left with that to fix)

As a DM i was basically forced to buy/use the Code Monkey stuff because of the horrible complexity of 3rd ed. Please, no edition wars, it's an obivous ugly fact that it ruined D&D for many DMs, having all the stuff to wade through/build, sigh. I love making characters and NPCs, but it became nightmarish.
The orginal 3.0 character software was kind of nice, by the way, if anyone can remember it.

New online sutff for 4th ed I can whip up characters, encounters easily, and in a pleasing way :) So it's worth it for me.
I do want the Virutal Table Top and Character visualizer in next year or two, however!!

I don't miss the visualizer.

Looks like a waste of resources that could be used in other areas.

Let a third party do the visualizer, I say.

To be honest, I'd love the visualiser if it was done right. Something more for making character portraits/images for the character generator. Something else to consider...tying in a visualiser to 3d printing technology. A service where they would take your visualizer input, and convert it into a real mini for use would probably give them some funds.

That's what I've been thinking. Maybe you make the character and it produces a cut-out stand-up thingy. Takes pictures from 4 sides of the mini and then pops them into a template you can assemble.
