DDM Rant: Dwarves...Aaaarrrgghhh!

I like them, but I know what you mean,

Myself I like most of the dwarves, but totally understand people wanting a bit more of a variety in mini's. I find the change in sizes interesting between Harbinger and Underdark as to how bid Halflings and such were then to now. -cnath.rm

An easy way to get folks to play more dwarves is to remove half-orcs from the game entirely (just say such cross-breeds don't occur - heck, why not show half elves the door while you're at it, it's not like half halflings or half gnomes are missed) and give dwarves the half-orc ability adjustments. Might also have to tweak dwarven racial abilities, because that might make them too good.

Kills two birds with one stone - no more annoying antisocial half-orc roleplaying and half-orc PCs being as common as dirt, and more warrior dwarves kicking ass in the game. Trollslayers, anyone? :)

None of which works if the mini was bent during production. Like, for example, the gnoll skeletons. Or the skeletal equicephs (although not to as bad an extent).

I've had that method work on any mini I've tried it on.

I can't get the Archfiends warrior skeletons to unbend, no matter how long I boil them or how carefully I unbend them afterwards.

:uhoh:

In the ~20 years I've been gaming, I've never once seen a half-orc PC, other than one I made myself and never got to play.

I have seen them several times in my 3e games, usually played by people who want to be strong, anti-social fighters with a reason to have charisma as a dump stat. Negatives to intelligence and charisma really stink. This is why I redesigned the races so that none of them take negatives to mental stats.

Of course, I also banned half-orcs and created a bear folk race to replace them.

Indeed it is. (I should have had a smiley).

Unfortunately for US Capitalism, there is no Toys'R'Us store in Ballarat. There *is* a FLGS that stocks Underdark, however.

Cheers!
you probably just grew up and can't find it. Cause if you did, you couldn't be a toys r us kid. :)
