DDXP, 4th edition, and Forgotten Realms

Is there any more information about what's going to be presented regarding digital tools? Are you just going to have a bunch of computers that people can use to try out the tools, or is there going to be a seminar or presentation, or something else? Haven't heard too much about the digitial tools recently and I am curious as to how these are going to be presented at DDXP.

Which parts of the digital tools will be available? D&D Game Table? Encounter Builder?

On Thursday morning there is a 2 hour Brand and R&D Seminar where we will present a bunch of information about 4e and D&D Insider. Some stuff you'll have heard before but mostly we want to be telling you new stuff. This includes and overview of D&D Insider tools, features, and pricing. There will be screen shots and some video.

Then throughout the rest of the show R&D will be demoing D&D Insider including the Character Builder, Dungeon Builder, and Game Table. It will be a live demo using the actual applications but it will not be a hands on, play with it yourself, experience. There will also be a chance to sign up to be on the Beta testing list.

From what I've read on other boards it's expected to take 45 minutes or so to brief players on the D&D 4E rules for the Living Forgotten Realms previews. How do you plan on handling the 4E rules briefings for the D&D Delve, which only lasts 30 minutes total for a party (just curious)?

There will be a brief overview of the rues and crib sheet to refer back to.

Someone from WOTC mentioned in a prior thread, quite some time ago, that attendees may have an opportunity to leaf through draft version of the PH, MM, and/or DMG. Carefully controlled, no doubt, since you don't want them walking away. Can you confirm if they're going to available for perusal?

We will have spreads that you'll be able to look at. They'll be in a case and will rotate different pages throughout the show so keep checking back to see what is new.

Also ask Shoe to check his pocket, you may find he has mini or something in there.

ya know I have a nice big post done and hit a wrong key and deleted it. I'm such a goob at times (don't ask my wife how often that is please).

There is a Brand/R&D seminar from 10am-noon on Thursday. If anything is going to be announced or talked about in regards to DDI it will be there. The Wotc staff will also have a table where you can talk with them at various times during the show. I do believe there is a DDI demo area with some staff as well onsite. What they'll have we'll just have to see.

There is no 'official' briefing of players during the 5-hour preview events. Players will get their characters, ask some questions about various things on their sheets, and then you will get started. I see most non-character sheet questions coming up during play and being answered as they pop up. It's a lot easier to answer 'how does X work?' type questions when you can actually apply them to a game situation. The D&D Delve is normally a 20 minute event but we've stretched it to 30 to take into account questions being asked during it that normally are not asked. It's not an in-depth 4th preview though. It's a combat intensive survive and or die type event. If you want in-depth do the 5-hour LFR previews. If you want down and dirty with the various classes and combat it's the delve.

I cannot confirm that though I would not rule it out either. This will be something R&D surprises us with if they do so onsite. They have had future books at their Q&A desk during past shows (such as the MIC last year and MM 4 I believe). So we'll just have to see. They always keep some surprises for onsite.

I'm so glad the word 'it' is in that sentence where indicated!

See you at the show!

I'm sure the participants will be spilling the beans about the new info, but sometimes they give it a spin that is - misleading. Are there any plans to release the new 4e info on DDI so we can it from the horse's (or Rouse's) mouth?

The R&D seminar next Thursday is going to be taped and replayed at the show and I believe up for everybody to see at some point after that. When I have no clue but it should be available.
