Deadpool (trailer)

Deadpool certanly looks like it could please a teenage audience. My only problem with it is that if it is a hit, it will mean Reynolds will make more movies.

He's actually an OK guy and now that he's in a part that fits his personality, more people might come to like him as an actor ;)

It seems that there are a several "Green Lantern" digs in the movie, in addition to the one in the trailer.

Hmmm... I think you're probably right. Superman VS Batman is a more widely know. I still think that Deadpool will be a better movie, though. DC movies don't really inspire confidence in me. You never know. Maybe Deadpool will probably make a pretty good run. I wouldn't be surprised if it stayed in the number one spot for box office earnings until Superman VS Batman comes out.

I think you're right that Deadpool will do quite well. Whether it's #1 or not depends on what it's up against, so I can't really speak to that.

As for Dc not inspiring confidence, I don't know. The more recent spate of DC movies have been good in my opinion (though your opinion, naturally, may vary).

The first two installments of Nolan's Batman trilogy were good. The third had issues but was fun to watch if I didn't really think about it too much.

I also like Man of Steel. I don't like how Lois falls away from the black hole, but hey, it's Hollywood, and they're not too bright.

The animated Suicide Squad film Assault on Arkham is also pretty good, though it sort of starts to fall apart in the third act. Why Deadshot, Killer Frost, and Capt. Boomerang couldn't just share the helicopter until they got clear of joker's dirty bomb is beyond me. Also, I hate how Bane, Two-Face, Poison Ivy, and Scarecrow are so easily taken down during the riot scene. I mean Poison Ivy, perched atop a giant blossoming plant, with a throng of enslaved/seduced crazies is thwarted by just a couple teargas grenades. I hope Pamela gets more love in the new live-action DCCU. She's a really cool character, and it'd be nice to see her portrayed in a way that does justice to that.

Plus, the animated film Flashpoint Paradox is pretty darn good too. I love the alternate twist that universe puts on Batman.

And then there's the animated film Justice League: War. It really does a good job with all the JL characters therein. It also has one of my favorite Wonder Woman scenes.

True, but I doubt there will be many movies out at the time that will be competing with it. It comes out in February, so it'll probably be up against a bunch of terrible RomComs.

Yeah, the first two Batman movies were good, but even the second one was a bit... meh. The third was pretty bad.

I liked Man of Steel, but it doesn't make it a good movie. I mean, I liked Sharknado, and it's a really terrible movie. Superman just seemed so stupid in that movie. He levels a city while fighting Zod, killing who knows how many people, and then freaks out because Zod is going to kill some family? Then he cries because he had to kill Zod? Seriously?

I'll admit, I haven't watched many of the DC animated movies, but the ones I have watched have been good. Unfortunately Batman VS Superman isn't an animated movie. If it was, I'd feel more confident in the quality of movie they are making. This, though? Not so much.

I really hope that BatFleck doesn't have the silly constipated voice that Christian Bale's Batman had. I like Bale as an actor, but that voice...

You're right. Not much usually comes out in February.

I could really dig into this, enough to make it a thread of its own really, but I'll pare it down considerably. Clark had been Superman for probably less than 48 hours, and had never faced a supervillain before Zod and his people came to Earth. Look at most of the accidents in the film where Clark does intervene: they occur in relatively remote locations (like the oil platform) or have very little risk of collateral damage (like the school bus). The fight with Zod, and its aftermath, is probably the first time that Superman had ever realized this . . .

Also, the fact that he developed the ability to fly in a very short period of time proves that his power was growing as he tested it, and that he may not have been aware of the full extent of that power.

As for him crying over killing Zod, I could easily see him doing that. To quote an Eastwood movie, "It's a hell of thing, killin' a man. You take away all he's got, and all he's ever gonna have." Plus, killing a man up close and personal the way Supes did with Zod can be very jarring to the psyche. And, regardless of whether it was up close or at a distance, Zod was the first person Superman had ever killed in that universe. I've been fortunate that I've never had to kill anybody before, but I'd probably be a real mess afterward.

Well, with the success of Marvel's films I think DC realizes how much they stand to gain by doing these films well. Maybe they can take some of the lessons from the success of their animated films and apply it to their live action films. I know that making an animated film is different from making a live-action film, but I'm sure there are some lessons that can be transferred regardless of the change in medium.

I don't know if it's only in his mech suit, but BatFleck has a digitally distorted voice. It sounds, to me, a little more menacing than Bale's bat-voice did; and it's probably a lot easier on the throat than the Bale voice was, which is potentially better for getting more takes in during the day.

That's why I'm thinking it'll hit number one and stay there for a while.
I could really dig into this, enough to make it a thread of its own really,
That might lead to some interesting discussions. I think you should.

Except the part where Clark is working at a bar and takes the D-bag truck driver's truck and wraps it around a light pole. He has power, and he knows it. He is also not a complete idiot and should be able to realize that if he tears down a building which is more than likely occupied, people are going to die.

The fight with Zod, and its aftermath, is probably the first time that Superman had ever realized this . . .

I just want to point out that Superman still doesn't seem to get it. He punches Darkseid through several buildings, most likelykilling a few people. Then he slams him down into the street without even looking to see if there was anyone down bellow. Superman is a jerk.

Also, the fact that he developed the ability to fly in a very short period of time proves that his power was growing as he tested it, and that he may not have been aware of the full extent of that power.
Eh... that's debatable. There really wasn't much of an explanation of his power development. He learned to fly, but it looks like it took him a bit of time. How? Not sure. The montage was pretty short, so it could have been a few minutes or a few months. Zod learned to fly pretty quickly. That shows that this isn't something that took time to develop. Flying is apparently a power they have that they just have to try and use. Not something that they need to reach some milestone in order for it to kick in.

As for him crying over killing Zod, I could easily see him doing that. To quote an Eastwood movie, "It's a hell of thing, killin' a man. You take away all he's got, and all he's ever gonna have."
Then he goes off to kill Wild Bill Hickok.

Plus, killing a man up close and personal the way Supes did with Zod can be very jarring to the psyche.
I'm pretty sure that the realization that a whole city is pretty much ruins, and a bunch of people have died because of his battle would be far more jarring.
And, regardless of whether it was up close or at a distance, Zod was the first person Superman had ever killed in that universe. I've been fortunate that I've never had to kill anybody before, but I'd probably be a real mess afterward.
Technically that's incorrect. He killed a bunch of people while fighting Zod and throwing Zod through buildings. Hell, Zod threw Superman through several buildings. Supes must have hit, and torn through, at least one human in the buildings he went through.

I hope so. It really appears that the only chareacter DC is able to make a good movie out of is Batman. Even then, it's short-lived. Batman seems to have a three movie limit. After that, you get Bat-nipples.

I'm guessing it's the mech-suit voice only. At least that's what I'm hoping for. If that's the voice even without the mech-suit, it's going to be pretty ridiculous.

Deadpool and his "breaking of the fourth wall", especially whose we have seen in the lastest trailer is awesome.
"Don't make the suit green.. or CGI..."

Loved it.

Unfortunately, I don't get the "less mad Rossie O'Donald" joke?
