Deadwood on HBO

First Post
Not exactly Sci Fi or Fantasy but..

I recently resubscribed to HBO. I caught the rerun of the first ep of Deadwood. It was slow but seems interesting. Alot of profanity, but any show that's a western and has Ian Mcshane, Kevin Carradine and Brad Dourif is ok in my book.

Any the profanity was kinda exqusite in a way.

Any opinions?

I watched this after "Sopranos" on Sunday. I thought it was very well done. I was having trouble keep all of the characters straight, and what they were up to. But I'm sure things will clear up as future episodes follow.

Even without the language, you would never find a show like this on network TV -- it's too complex, with too many characters, for the network suits to approve.

The more I watch HBO series, the more I wish that "Firefly" had been done on HBO.

A friend was telling me about it and it sounded interesting and he thought it had a lot going on to make a good show. I know I will be looking to see it.

I actually enjoyed Deadwood for several reasons but the main reason is for the great characters. The head honcho, Al, is so bad that it is scary. I just hope that this show lasts longer than Peacemakers. HBO crammed an aweful lot into the first episode and I eagerly await the next installment. I felt the same way when I was watching Carnivale.

I may be the only minority who does not follow The Sopranos. I watched a few early episodes but could never get into it. I guess I am not a wise guy ;)

Sex and drugs and rocks (to roll?)! What's not to love?!

This is going to win a hell of a lot of awards if the writing keeps up! :)

Watched the second ep tonite. Much better pacing than the first IMHO. The Calamity Jane character cracks me up.

Its also nice to see Brad Dourif in a role than isnt his typical unbalanced type. In fact, the Doc seems to be one of the more moral characters in town.

Tiny spoiler/comment:
Although I have to say, I could have done without seeing that one guy's wedding tackle :( eech

Row, row, row your boat gently down the stream...

It just gets better and better with the second episode. I've found my new favorite show. I'm itching to run a Western RPG now... :D

Utter's got a sputter when relievin' in the street,
Calamity done lost it when she had to take the heat,
The Doc is pushin coolin' cream in every little place,
The Dandy's wife is flyin' and ole Hitch can't catch an ace,
The Preacher plants a man as Saul, he turns the other cheek,
Al's a nightmare, everyone is livin' in his dream...
