Decapitating a Death Knight?

I'd rule that the death knight could still see and speak- from its head. So it would prolly try to stick its head back on to prevent having it stuck in a box.

Someone picks it up, woe to him- or did they lose the power word ability in 3e?

Hey now, death knights are supposed to be powerful servants of the forces of darkness, not some random zombie that you can stick into a box and carry around.

IMC if you managed to decapitate a death knight, it would barely notice. The head would fall off and roll away, but the knight would still be able to see just fine, and its voice would issue from somewhere in the space above its neck. For extra dramatic effect, it would even still have eyes-- two points of fiery red light, hovering unsupported in the air.

Death knights ain't for comic relief.

Hey, thanks for all the feedback on this one. I really appreciate it.

FWIW, I was recently able to question my DM on his choice of a Death Knight against 5th level characters. Luckily for me, he was slightly drunk and so probably told me more than he should have. LoL. Apparently, it was a "weak Death Knight", if such a thing is possible, and we "could have beaten it with the right combination of team work". Hmmmm. Maybe?

What Cleric? LoL! We have a Druid that doesn't do much. I've a Cleric, but he's a Cleric of Thought that can't even turn Undead. I've also got a character with a raging fear of the Undead that immediately runs at full speed in the opposite direction upon encountering them. LoL
