Level Up (A5E) Dedicated Healer

Does the Healer Role Need To Be Filled In Every Party?

It’s actually 50d8 + 50 (caster level is 1 for a 750 gp wand).

Now for real healing, try the wand of lesser vigor. 750 gp for 550 points of healing
Ahh, my mistake. I thought because wands in 3.5 had a minimum caster level of 5th to create, the spell put into any given wand was assumed to have been placed there by a 5th level caster.

It's been a while since I've played 3.5 as you can see. :p

You can craft them lower CL iirc. As much naughty word as 3.5 wands of CLW get, these days whenever o5e's rest healing excess comes up they were far less problematic due to the fact that I as the GM could & did have the ability to limit them to what I felt appropriate by saying "out of stock" & spreading damage around to consume 10 or 15 charges from a 4-5 player party each needing 2-3 plus a few extra on the ones who took big damage.

Personally I'm looking forward to seeing how strife/fatigue equipment damage & supply changes things up at the table in a5e.

Ultimately the CLW wand system, as "gamist" as it was, was probably the best form of "dial healing" we have seen to date.

A DM who wanted a grittier game could just deny those wands to its party members....and suddenly rest healing is low. Give it to them frequently, and its "infinite rest healing". Provide the wands sparingly, and its somewhere in between. Effectively every dnd party could dial the amount of rest grittiness they wanted with the adjustment of such items.
