Deepwarden's Stonewarden Con bonus to AC ability?

The Stonewarden Prestige Class from WotC's Races of Stone gains a nifty ability at second level. From memory, it's called Stonewarden and allows the character to use its Con bonus instead of Dex bonus for AC purposes. The explanatory text says that you lose the bonus at anytime you would lose your Dex bonus.

My question is, does an armor's Maximum Dex bonus limit to AC apply equally to the Con bonus to AC? I have in mind a Dwarven Defender with an (relatively) insance AC.

<edit: stupid title mistake>

Hi!

The descriptive text of this class feature suggests that you should apply the Con bonus to AC only if it is higher than your Dex bonus; so, the designers thought (I guess) that the Deepwarden should benefit from this class feature having the Maximum Dexterity Bonus for heavy armor (like dwarves tend to wear) in mind. This (ridiculous :)) substitution can be interpreted as the Deepwarden having "a really tough skin just when she is not surprised because of muscle contraction" or some other silly explanation.

If you allow this PrC than let the little fellow benefit from this class feature; better provide him with a natural armor bonus if the Deepwarden is not flat-footed instead of the higher Con bonus. Makes things a little simpler and more *ahem* believable.

Kind regards
