Dear Poster,
If this eye of alarm is worthy of a skill challenge

It makes sense its worth XP of said skill challenge whether they dispel it or complete the challenge another way entirely

Update: They used Arcana to sense the presence of the Eye, but failed in their perception checks to see it, so they don't know what it is. It looks like the alarm is going to go off and they will have a fight on their hands, which is pretty much what I wanted.

(It's a Play-by-post game, so that's why their progress is so gradual).

If they had been able to see the Eye, I would have permitted an attempt to approach stealthily and disable it with a difficult Arcana or Thievery check, as though it were a magic trap, but it's a moot point now.
