Define "Rest"

Run

A character with a Constitution score of 9 or higher can run for a minute without a problem. Generally, a character can run for a minute or two before having to rest for a minute.

What does rest mean? Can you still move with one move action per roun or do you have to completely stop moving?

Run
You can run as a full-round action. (If you do, you do not also get a 5-foot step.) When you run, you can move up to four times your speed in a straight line (or three times your speed if you’re in heavy armor). You lose any Dexterity bonus to AC unless you have the Run feat
You can run for a number of rounds equal to your Constitution score, but after that you must make a DC 10 Constitution check to continue running. You must check again each round in which you continue to run, and the DC of this check increases by 1 for each check you have made. When you fail this check, you must stop running. A character who has run to his limit must rest for 1 minute (10 rounds) before running again. During a rest period, a character can move no faster than a normal move action.
You can’t run across difficult terrain or if you can’t see where you’re going.
A run represents a speed of about 12 miles per hour for an unencumbered human.

While there isn't a definition of rest given in the Glossary, the bolded text says that you can't move faster than a normal move during a rest period, as it relates to the Run action, so you don't have to completely stop moving.

I can't recall any technical definition of rest that is directly related to the running rules.

So this might be one of the many many instances where you need to apply (GASP) common sense.

If you run fast as for a minute can you, in your experience, slow down and continue at a walk afterwards?

From personal experience I would tend to say yes for anyone used to running, in fact it sometimes even makes it easier to catch your breath again if you walk around a bit.

For lard ass Wizards I would say no.

If you flat our sprint for 1 minute I would say that most people needs to lie down or lean against something afterwards for about another minute.
