Deflect Arrows Mechanic?

Hello Everyone,

Is there any sort of game mechanic (i.e. attack roll, etc.) required to use the Deflect Arrows feat? The wording of the feat (e.g. "Attempting to deflect a ranged weapon...") seems to imply that some sort of die roll should be involved, but it does not describe such a roll. I checked the rules and the FAQ but could not find any such roll described.

For reference, here is a link to the feat description:

http://www.d20srd.org/srd/feats.htm#deflectArrows

So, is there a roll involved, or is it automatically successful?

Thanks,

Atavar

It's probably a holdover from its 3.0 incarnation, which required a DC 20 reflex save to execute the feat. There is no check in 3.5, so it is automatically successful once per round.

No roll is required. The deflection is automatically successful on normal missiles.

The "attempt" language is there because you might try to use the feat against a special missile on which it doesn't work. Ferinstance, if somebody casts acid arrow at you, you might "attempt" to deflect it but you won't be successful.
