Deflect Arrows vs. Manyshot

What happens if I use Manyshot against a person that has Deflect Arrows? Do they deflect all the arrows from Manyshot, or just one?

Hey, that's a good question...I wonder why that hasn't come up before...(or maybe it has?)

I would like to think that it would only deflect one of the arrows, but I have a feeling it's worded so that it would negate the entire attack. I don't have my book...but I'll look into it when I get home.

Manyshot uses a single attack roll, but each arrow is still its own seperate attack for the purposes of DR, concealment, and Deflect Arrows.

from the SRD

Benefit: You must have at least one hand free (holding nothing) to use this feat. Once per round when you would normally be hit with a ranged weapon, you may deflect it so that you take no damage from it. You must be aware of the attack and not flatfooted.
Attempting to deflect a ranged weapon doesn’t count as an action. Unusually massive ranged weapons and ranged attacks generated by spell effects can’t be deflected.

I wouls say since there is no other info, that you only get to deflect one arrow since it keeps refering to the weapon in singular terms (no damage from it )

Might be an area for a new feat - Improved Deflect Arrow

Now that I look at the quote from the SRD, it's saying you deflect the ranged weapon. Do they mean you can deflect ammunition or a projectile? Because I don't see how you can deflect a bow or crossbow, just the arrows or bolts that come out of them.

Player1: I throw my bow at him.
DM: He deflects it.
Player1: Doh!

Heh. There's a line from some vampire movie (quoted in Ghastly Beyond Belief, by Neil Gaiman and Kim Newman), where someone's just emptied a gun into the vampire.

He grins, and says "Go on, now throw it at me. It's what they usually do."

3.5 rules: One object per round. As I read it, someone could throw a kitten at you and as long as they were intending to hit you with it, slow & fluffy or not, you can deflect it. Two kittens? Pick one.

And let me field this one before it pops up again:
How about getting extra deflections via Combat Reflexes?
No.

It's kind of like the old Superman TV show... When the bad guys would unload on him, the bullets would bounce off his chest. When the guns were empty, they'd throw the gun at him and Superman would dodge out of the way, lol.

If you want more deflections, talk your DM into letting you take the feat multiple times and stack it, or get Infinite Deflection from the ELH. Just as the name would indicate, it lets you deflect an infinite number of ranged attacks per round.

Or talk him into a houserule similar to the 3.0 Deflect Arrow. I use DC 20 for the first Refl save, DC 25 for the second... etc.
