Deft Strike + Quick Reconnoiter clarification!

Do these two feats work together?

Quick Reconnoiter: spot and listen checks as a free action and +2 on intiative checks.

Deft Strike: as a standard action make a spot check (DC = targets AC) to make a precise strike ignoring the targets armor bonus and natural armor bonuses.

So now a rogue with these two feats can make a spot check (as a free action) against the targets AC to make a sneak attack that ignores any armor or natural armor bonuses!

Is this correct? If it is, this is one of the sickest things Ive ever seen and I can't wait for my next rogue build.

Hi!

I'd not combine the two feats. Quick Reconnoiter allows you to make normal Spot and Listen checks as a free action instead of a move action. Deft Strike requires you to use a Standard Action and make a Spot check to accomplish something else.

Kind regards

I agree with Scharlata. Deft Strke explicitly says you need to take a standard action and the Quick Reconnoiter feat does nothing to change that.

Shilsen and Scarlata are correct. Normally, a spot check is a move action (at least when you actively try to spot something); the most plausible reading of Quick Reconnoiter is that it affects this and only this use of Spot. Using Spot with Deft Strike is a wholly different application of the skill. (Compare to Improved Feint, which doesn't allow characters to use other applications of Bluff as a move action.)
