Deities of Knowledge

Odin is a great choice, as his relentless quest for knowledge and wisdom brought him to sacrifice one of his eyes and even hang himself to discover the secrets of the universe.

Yeah, but if you read his published papers, you'll see the limitations of that research methodology. "Why having your eye plucked out hurts like hell and ruins your depth perception" and "Why being hanged is even worse than having your eye plucked out" are not exactly classics of science ...

Odin is die-hard, man! He's no library-bound scholar poring over ancient tomes to unearth the secrets of the universe...he's out on the battlefield stopping at nothing to gain the knowledge he desires. Odin's ruthless pursuit of knowledge and wisdom trumps the nose-in-a-book approach any day :D

School of hard knocks is for wimps.

Then Boccob, Thoth, and Ohgma are what you are looking for. Eberron has Aureon, but I'm fairly certain you're not playing there. ;)

I like Odin as a god of knowledge, however. I forgot that was the reason he lost his eye. :]
