Deity of Change.

I'm working on a villian, or at least an anti-hero. He's attemtng to become a deity. I've got various ways in which this'll be done, but my big difficulty is in coming up with good descriptive visuals. I believe he's going to become a god of change, and I havn't thought of anything visual to go with that. I need visuals, as well as other appropriate themes.

I'm not certain about the pantheon he's attempting to join, but I don't want the rest of the gods to be important, as I do not want there to be a lot of Deus Ex Machina, and I know that if the gods are well developed personalities, I might bring them in. Bad Habit.

I havn't gone in depth in the world yet. But it will be one that doesn't change. The stars never fall, wars don't end (at least not often), technology is nonexistent. I'm thinking his icon may well be the wheel.

He needs to be morally ambiguous. His change is mostly progress, but it leads towards extinction, the death of stars, and eventual pollution. I may well give him hair the color of an orange rind, and anyone that knows why gets a Nerd Point.

I'm told Gond Wonderbringer is Forgotten Realms's god of change, but I don't know anything about him. Could you guys tell me the useful bits about him, without violating them laws governing intellectual property.

Hope you guys can and will help out,
Eolin.

Well Gond is an increasingly gnomish god in FR. Gond is pretty Good, especially compared to what you're imagining. He's a god of inventio, technology, and smithing.......your god of change sounds more primeval than Gond.

Might I suggest an avatar of for the force of entropy? Various D&D gods already represent this force in some ways (Tharizdun, Entropy from FR, Erythnul...he does...), but the way I read your description (and no i don't recognize the orange rind reference), I'd say you're talking about a neutral-ish character who is selfishly clawing his way to godhood.

Consider having a bardwith levels of druid or cleric (worshiping the force of change itself) who is trying to alter the very fabric of existence so that he can master (and subvert?) the forces of original Creation.

End ramble

I'm not much into Forgotten Realms, but I believe Moander was a god of change before he was killed. Now I think Fynder Wyvernspur or whatever his name is has taken up his mantle of change, but he's not evil like Moander was.

I remember hearing of Lathander as a god of change. Currently he is worshipped in his young visage, as a god of dawn. Later he will change to become a "middle-aged" god, perhaps of the sun I don't remember, and last he will become an "old god" of death and endings. Then he dies, and the cycle repeats itself.

As for visuals, when I think about such a primeval force of change I am thinking whirlwinds around him - not just in air, but in the ground too. A flux of change and "mutation" all around him, as an aspect of his divine aura.
Another option is to go with a "chaos-beast" look, of a constantly-changing shape.
Hmmm. I'm afraid I don't have much else in the ways of themes or visuals. Sounds like an interesting concept for a god, though; cool

Change, especially on the largest scales, is rarely a peaceful and happy event.

As this person ascends into godhood, you can make various faces of the planet go insane. Then those changes cause more chaos and changes in a cascading affect.

These events cause the current gods of good and their agents to respond in various ways.
The gods of neutral and evil respond in their own ways, especially if this new god is treading on their own portfolios.

All of this just sounds like a Talos to me. But that may be darker than you prefer.

There's a renewal domain which is shared by Finder and Lathander (but not Gond) as well as Kossuth and Shialia, maybe more. Gond is really god of invention/smithing - somewhat like Haephestus/Vulcan.
