Delving against Erac's Cousin

Sorry, it just came across a little..."Oh isn't that cute - old words!" is all.

Well no worries - all is clear now.

(And can I use "durance" in a 3e game or is that an epic level challenge word that only works with blood war rare minis and the Sword and Fist prestige classes and bluuuuuhhhhhhhhhhhh ;) :D)

Only if you get the DMG II XD

Besides, I think durance only applies when you're half kobold/half vampire/illithid defender/dragon farmer/dragon knight/demonic expert/infernal commoner/knight of holy demonic infernal dragons/bitchin' anime adaptation/groovy 70's van art concept has taken the Fist of Whammo feat coupled with the Indian Burn skill, and has an appropriate CR as well derrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr......

Sorry, DD, I couldn't resist. :D

Good stuff, Bill, thanks for sharing it :D I love mixing and matching what's "known" and "canon" around in GH games: "no, Graz'zt isn't Iuz's father, you twit, Orcus is" etc., so your twists are very appreciated!

Oh and just to update interested parties...the adventurers retired to the city of Blue for some R&R. Since the fellow who plays the magic-user was out, I deemed that he had been summoned to an "important meeting" (which will actually drive another part of the adventures, but it was a convenient way to write him out of the script for the evening).

The rest of the party found themselves fighting a coterie of Tharizdun cultists in the sewers beneath the city - with no magic-user to back them up! There was much mayhem and havoc when they kicked down the door to the inner sanctum and fought ten or so insane culitsts and their three mid-level cleric masters (one 5th level, one third level, one fourth level) and found to their horror that one of the cultists was a wight!

They got really really lucky on a couple of key initiative rolls and didn't wind up getting hold person placed on them. However, a command ("Flee!") placed on the higher leveled cleric in the party (there are two, total) took him out for a full round.,

The party nearly lost a fighter (-9 HP before he was bandaged up), lost their linkboy who gamely tried to ward off cultists while the lesser of the two clerics in the party kept the wight at bay. However they rescued a prisoner/sacrificial victim of the cult (a baby, the child of the linkboy's sister).

At the end of it all they paid for the resurrection of the linkboy (who is now fanatically loyal to the party), and paid for the resurrection of a street urchin whom Osgar the Cleric had asked to watch the entrance to the cultist's hideout (when Osgar - the higher leveled cleric - returned after martialling the rest of the party they found the boy in an abandoned house on the same street, crucified upside-down and eviscerated).

This coming week I'm going to reintroduce another guy who's been out for a few weeks due to real life issues. The in-game excuse for his departure was to find some way to magically raise his half-sister (a full-blooded elf) from the dead. In the interim he encountered Gellor who, in exchange for seeing to his sister's resurrection, has asked the character to ... keep him up-to-date on exactly what the party's progress against Erac's Cousin is.

All part of the larger plot, of course.

Great stuff, Bill! Are you chronicling your PCs adventures on your site's forums? If not, you should definitely post them in the GH forum!

Glad you're enjoying it.

I can't chronicle too much - greygriffin20 and MektonZeta are two of my players (Jason Roof and Scott Rutter, respectively).

But yeah, I should get on that.

I found my original maps to the upper reaches of the dungeons of Erac's Cousin - maybe someday I'll cook up a mega-module.
