Demons of the Hordes: Any Thoughts?

The obyriths are quite interesting. I especially like the sibriex...creepy weird. I also like the fact that the obyriths are more bent on chaos than evil, and their DR/lawful reflects this.

The loumaras are interesting, too, but the two included haven't quite stirred my imagination as much as the obyriths. I do like them, though, and think with a few more in a Dragon article they might grow on me more.
Pretty much my opinion too.

I like obyriths. They'll fit real well with the Galchutt of Ptolus. :)

can the Barlarga still carry others when teleporting? and are they still summonable by Lesser Planar Allay? (6hd)
Okay so my villians are exploiting this - but I don't want to rewrite my captive taking scenerio.

Yes and yes. Your kidnapping, easily summonable bar-lgura are safe.

Demiurge out.

Did they happen to reprint the Abyssal Maw and Abyssal Eviscerator? Those were two of my favorite figures from the Chainmail minis game, and I don't think they've seen a 3.5 update yet.

Wow. The poor Chasme, what have they done to you?
Yeah, I don't have my BoVD handy, but it certainly looks like the Chasme is just the same as it was before. I like the picture though!

The Broodswarm is pretty fricken cool though and I like that this book is serving as a bastion for a lot of 'classic' demons. No Cataboligne Demon though :(

Nope.

I still have trouble figuring out why the Chasme is CR10.

I'm guessing ray of enfeeblement at will (not even counting quickened 3/day) plus fly 50 ft. (perfect) and greater teleport at will equals no fear of melee attacks. Essentially, unless the party is really good at ranged attacks or they all can fly, only the casters have a chance of dropping this critter. All ol' chasme has to do is figure out who is hurting him, then enfeeble them till they can't move.

That :] :] :] :] spell has wrought havoc on my campaign.

The Abyssal Eviscerator appears in the Miniatures Handbook, which is 3.5. To get a 3.5 Abyssal Maw, you'll need to use the D&D v.3.5 Accessory Update with the 3.0 version in the Monster Manual II, or if you have one, use the stats on the card that comes with the Maw in the Dragoneye set of D&D Minis.

Actually, ray of enfeeblement can't do that. Penalties from the same source don't stack.

I did the exact same thing to a flying wizard once, ray of enfeebled until he could only hang lifelessly in the air. Didn't find out until afterwards...
