D&D General Demonweb Pits!? Neverwinter the cg is going there. Could that mean the RPG is?

Should it be of interest, I should add that I've been slowly and steadily capturing the Lore of Neverwinter, including the old and current Drow storylines. I do this because I find the lore interesting, but also because the visuals can be amazing fodder for DM creativity. It try to highlight that in the videos. If you click on the playlist link there are some videos early on covering the Neverwinter version of Out of the Abyss, plus the later videos capture Drow storylines. New video going up tomorrow!
It’s a great stream. I miss it a lot but not for wanting to watch it.

Didn't we already have more or less this exact plot in "Out of the Abyss?"

Okay, not precisely the same. OotA had Lolth dumping all the other demon lords into Menzoberranzan, so that she could take over the Abyss. Still, "Menzoberranzan has become a gateway to the Abyss due to the machinations of Lolth, go assemble a MacGuffin to fix it" has already been pretty thoroughly done in 5E.
Was Lolth the instigator? I ran a campaign semi-based on that campaign for six months and never knew she was involved. I thought it was just a rogue Drow archmage who'd messed up and let a bunch of demon princes into the Underdark.

I don't really know or care whether I'm right or you're right, I think the main take-away is that that campaign did a truly terrible job of presenting its materials.

No, there is a host of Lolth worshipping Drow cities, including one nearby for her faithful to flee to. And I think its more likely tied to the next Drizzt novel in the Way of the Drow series, Lolth's Warrior, then an TTRPG adventure. Hopefully we also hear about Lorendrow finally.

I'm somewhat out of the loop on current Drizzt novels. Still, if Menzoberranzan was no longer a Lolth stronghold, that would have massive repercussions in the Underdark.

Newerewinter Online was released in 2016, and it is still working. We should congratulate. Only a little number of free-to-play MMOs have survived so much time.

Maybe in the future we could see some sourcebook about drows, or a crunch handbook, or an adventure.

The trailer makes it sound as if the endgame of Neverwinter's Demonweb Pits is to drive Lolth out of Menzoberranzan. It'd be easy to see a Lolthless Menzoberranzan making its way to D&D, putting the last nail in the coffin of the "traditional" all-evil drow.
they haven't been all evil since late 2nd edition when elistraee started protecting those who came to the surface to escape Lolth.

Yea, pretty impress

Um, it was actually released in 2012, IIRC. PC-only at the time. Was in the beta. That was back when people could make their own modules. There was one that had Old Jerry as the bad guy. Was a lot of fun, and you could earn AD really easily. You also got to arrange your own stats.

I think he meant the MMO?

Or could you creat your own mods in the MMO?

Hence why I said "last nail." When you look at how Menzoberranzan is portrayed in Out of the Abyss, for example, it still sticks very closely to the original drow concept.
