HOLY COW! I can't believe we agree on something. Must be a sign of the Apocalypse (Of course I wouldn't want to actually state any of my negative critiques, might be seen by some as overly negative, or even worse, I may actually commit the unforgiveable crime of expressing my opinion. . . Aww Hell with it, here goes . . . this set is the wor........)

Now, now. It's Holy Bovine. Don't make me turn this thread around!

Nice link, avin!:D DDM spoilers updated their page with some of these pics also.

After seeing the scans I think quite a few of the pics DDMspoilers had up initially were of paint masters. After seeing the actual production models quite a few of the ones I liked have dropped off the list. I do still like these though (with additions of some I just saw for the first time):

Corruption Corpse
Skull Lord
Deathlock Wight
Drow Assassin (I'd probably have to do some highlight work on it, but I like it)
Vicious Bearded Devil
Drow Adventurer (very useable for modifying - with a little bit of work this can be turned into just about any weapon/accessory combo - very nice)
Halfling Archer (good but same as the Drow Assassin - I'll need to do some painting)
Dragon Paladin of Bahamut (also need to do some paint touchup)
Rakshasa Assassin (need to touch up paint - but I like that the thumbs don't apear to be backwards like a standard Rakshasa, means I can use it for Feline PC races)
Sharn Redcloak (yup, more touchups - but I still like it)
Human Bandit
Autumn Wind Ranger (I'll add some highlights but this one looks easily modifiable also - with some extra work could even be placed on a mount)

But since I usually only buy PC's, that leaves about 8 I'll actually pursue. That's about average for me per set.

See I think this is where you and I diverge. You look at these models and want to repaint the ones you like (is that too strong of word? How about 'not hate' ;) ). I look at the ones I not hate (hmmm doesn't have good ring to it) and think I'll get a few and toss them into a fight. After decades with half painted minis I;m just glad to have something looking finished on the table :D

 (show me sitting abashed in the backseat:blush:)

Well, less repaint than just add highlights. I've found with the prepainted, if you start adding whole layers of paint, the definition of the sculpt just about disapears. It doesn't take too much, especially with faces. But yeah, I definitely appreciate having painted minis on the table.

I came to the conclusion a long time ago that I'd never have every monster I'd ever want or need in mini form. In my games now I usually just print monsters out on cardstock (with a normal picture for the front and a negative for the rear), but PC's and major NPC's are always represented with minis. Hopefully it's only the cardboard minis that are one-dimensional, and not my GM'ing of them. It seems since I've been married my minis buying has serioulsly decreased (can't imagine why;)). But, when I see a monster mini that's just so good I can't live without it, it goes on the list of potential purchases.

I'm with you on the half-painted minis, and even completely unpainted minis. I've got boxes of minis in storage with the majority of them unpainted. Some day when I'm really retired (not just retired from the military), I plan on painting every single one of them. Oh, just thinking about spending day after day doing nothing but reading books and painting minis, Ahhh, Heaven (of course, my wife may have something to say about that;)).

The oly ones I really liked were the exarch of bahamut, the iefling cleric of Asmodeous, and the blue dragon. The rest range from so-so to horrible.
