Oh verily! I let another player spend their inspiration to run and drop kick (they are a monk) the currently-hand-losing character, allowing them to re-roll their save before losing more of their body, which they made. It's not like they needed to use their sword anyway.

(Amusingly, they are a Paladin/Warlock, so they've been Eldritch Blasting or Spider Climbing instead and the hand loss indeed hasn't been as detrimental to their effectiveness in helping the group as it might have otherwise been... )
