Desserts of Scotland

On my trip to Scotland last year I had a dessert called crachan. Basically oatmeal (the real stuff, not those quaker oat flakes) cooked in milk to a thick custard consistency and then topped with fresh berries. Yum!

Thats the one I knew especially too :), Though I would of course bow to the knowledge of websites and crowe which are better informed :)

On an OT note...

Crowe, is there a good shop for gaming stuff in Edinburgh? I was visting because I might go to university there next year (RPG shops shockingly not in prospectus :p) and couldn't find a place, all I came up with is Forbidden Planet but they didn't seem to have any RPG books :p

Apologies everyone I'm not trying to throw the thread into a tangent, honest :)

What whats this no Condensed Milk? Come on Highlander Condensed Milk is an essential item in every kitchen cupboard how can they stop AAAAGGGGH

Oh and Deep fried Mars Bars and yummy [Confess}had one for Lunch yesterday[/confess}

Me to invoke a truely Scots feel do the Rolled Oats and raisins deal (ie Crachan) - afterall what's more Scot than Rolled oats?

Hmm...I'd say a sausage supper, followed by a Tennants' Lager with 2 bags of McCoys, and then a kebeb to finish up.

But I have a feeling that desserts didn't come in the modern fashion (as someone already mentioned), but that a few beers were more likely, followed by rousing songs about how great all Scots are. Scots wha hae, an' all tha'.

Arkan, there is only really one decent gaming shop left in Edinburgh now, a place by the name of "Black Lion".

The owner is a great guy, who knows his stuff, and if he doesn't have an item your looking for in stock, he'll try and order it for you.

His website is terrible, and incredibly out of date (Hes moved premises since then, but hes not great with computers, so he doesn't update.. ) But the shop itself is not far from one of the Main parts of Edinburgh University, and is only about 5-10 mins from the center of town.

If you do come to edinburgh, give hima try...
