Destroying a Stone Bridge

TarionzCousin

Is there a way to magically destroy a 4 square by 4 square stone bridge in 4E? If so, my villain knows how to do it and would have done it before the PC's arrived.

He is a mish-mash of wizard, sorcerer, and warlock, if that matters.

Edit: added "magically" above. :P

...pretty sure you can attack objects

If the villain has done it before the PCs arrive and without them being around, I think how the bridge was destroyed probably won't matter. Options may include (but are not limited to) explosives, siege weaponry, acid, magic, and GM fiat. ...basically, however you say he did it, he did.

Just attack it. It would have some kind of resist all damage (probably about 10 point) and a goodly number of hit points, (I would say 200)

Depends a lot on the timescale. Hiring a team of dwarves with appropriate stone-working equipment would probably be a good way to tackle it - they could even dismantle it in such a way that it could be rebuilt later if needed.

Hacking away at it with weapons or other attacks would work, as mentioned, but would probably take some time for a sturdy bridge.

Thunder Leap?

Level 5 Sorceror Power: Takes off standing on the bridge 'Hancock-Style' shattering the bridge and weakening the structure, leaps 100 ft straight up into the air, gathers his knees under his chin and hurtles down towards the weakened bridge, landing on it to devastating, spectacular effect.

Flavor in a succesful Dungeoneering check to discern it's weekness, maybe a thievery check to determine how much needs to be done to set the effect, and arcana check to muster the right magic, then one or two focused Thunder keyed attacks to do the damage (someone else can suggest the attacks). Essentially fluffing a villain skill challenge and combining it with your power of choice.

30 minutes is enough to do ritual magic. To me that means it should be enough time to destroy a small stone bridge.

But it's not a situation that is covered by the rules. In the end it depends on DM fiat.

If I where the DM I would simply decide on a result depending on what would seem "coolest".

In this situation that would be a magically booby-trapped bridge that goes of as the players cross. And can cleared of the trap by thievery, arcana and so on.

If either side of the bridge leads to earth of loose stone, then the use of an Excavation ritual (Lvl 6) could undermine it and cause it to collapse. It takes 10 minutes to perform and clears a square of debris, with an additional square per 10 points of an Arcana check result.

Earth Ramparts takes 10 minutes and is a level 6 ritual. If it can create an earthwork wall 2 squares by 2 high, then I am pretty sure a modification of it could be used to destroy a bridge.
