Destrying a Lich's Phylactary

Putting the Phylactery inside you (if youre the lich is a hilarious idea).

I had a lich with his phyl hidden in the head of a vampire girl that the players befriended.

I had a lich with his phyl hidden in the head of a vampire girl that the players befriended.

Someone give me a physical description of that a phylactery is. I have absolutely no idea how big it is, what its shaped as, what its made of. One person said its as big as a cat. the next says it fits in someones head without taking out their brain.

- Edit: After looking it up, ive seen multiple conflicting definitions with on sizes listed. Someone help me out here.

Because it varies per lich. Some might be the small box with tiny bit of text in it, others might be a ruby amulet, a boulder sized emerald or another might be a Belt that gives +6 to Str, Dex and Con*.

*Libris mortis suggests not being able to further enchant phylacteries, but I think it is a fine idea for a crafty lich.

Did the lich enchant it with +6 con to show how much money he has?

I think it would be neat if it could be the head of a mace and the lich had it enchanted to improve its hardness. +5 Adamantine phylactery heavy mace.

No, he probably did it to make it even more tempting to whoever picked it up to not want to have it destroyed.
