The minis are unpainted metal based on artwork by Wayne Reynolds. We'll have the cool sketches up in the next few days.

Man, that gorilla king one sounds exactly like a campaign I ran not that long ago...

Poor King Orokoko. Made intelligent by his former master (a powerful mage), he tried to establish a kingdom in the jungle. He read books on other kingdoms to figure out the best methods to use in governing, but his clumsy hands never got the hang of writing. He was unable to bring his wild bretheren into civilization, and the PCs found him crumpled over on his throne, his head bashed in by one of his "lords".

Yoink!

That's awesome. I'm sold.

It seems to me that the cheap, pre-painted minis make it more likely that "on the fence" gamers now use minis in their game. Does this type of player _only_ buy pre-painted minis, or does he sometimes buy a metal miniature when what he's looking for isn't available in plastic?

Here's your answer from this player who fits the description above:

No, I will not buy a metal miniature (by itself) that is not pre-painted plastic, even if there is no plastic equivalent. I have no talent for painting and am not interested in the slightest in trying.

However, though I am quite disappointed by the mini types in this product, I will buy the product due to the other components. I'll use the metal minis unpainted (presuming, of course, that they are not shipped in pieces that have to be glued - that would really suck for me). The miniature-grid tiles are what I'm extremely interested in.

And, quite frankly, I've been very happy with Paizo as a whole, so I have no doubt that the quality of the components will be there.

So far we're shooting for single-piece molds for all the minis, meaning you won't have to glue them together.

The encounters will be pegged at a specific level, but I'm going to try to include some information on scaling the encounters.

The real question is will the En World staff reviewers be receiving these to spread the word about their quality and overall utility?

I'm not sure how we'll be handling the promotion of the minis, but I will certainly put a word in for getting the EN World reviewers free copies. Absolutely.

I'd also like to chime in for pre-painted plastic minis. Actually, as long as they're pre-painted and don't need to be glued, I don't care what they're made out of (so long as they're lead-free).

Beyond that, I love the idea. Liches are cool, ninjas in D&D are, dare I say it, even cooler. And the gorilla king...I can just hear my players now, "dirty, filthy ape!"

Quick, someone, where do I sign up to be an EN World reviewer??? ;)
