Personally I consider the fact that the trap designers know how detect magic works when they design traps. Quite often, the magic that controls the trap is not obvious, the same way that the mechanism is not obvious.
I also play with magics, and have it possible to cast a spell that is immune to detect magic. To do this I use another spell, which is cast on a single magic effect. In order to penetrate this, a caster must use a method of detecting magic of equal or higher level than the covering spell. Makes Hieghten Spell a lot more useful in my campaign.
