what aura does a magic item give off under detect magic? For example, what would a scroll with spells from multiple schools look like? Would it have the aura of the spells that are on it, or does enchanting a scroll give it's own aura?

Items generally give off the auras of the spells in them. If there are multiple schools, there are multiple auras. If the item in question exists in the DMG, the item's description says what auras it gives off and how strong those auras are.

Also, the default aura if nothing specific is mentioned is:

- magic weapons: Evocation
- magic armour/shields: Abjuration
- anything else: Transmutation
