Detroit Gameday: Jan 31!! The Aftermath!!

I need a vote here: I'm currently working on a Ultimate Freedom City Setting, or I could use my Detroit Race Riots with Super Powers setting. Which would you rather see? So as far as tone is considered how close to Four-Color do you want to be?
Haven't played either, so you could tell me one and do the other and I would have no idea :)

For the Freedom City option, I'd be taking Freedom City sourcebook, which is largely a four-color setting and modernizing the characters therein, in the vein of the Ultimate line of Marvel comics. As far as the Race Riots with Superhumans, it's just a recent notion. I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to match most of the locals on knewledge in that area, but I thought it would make a nice street-level setting.

The real question should be street-level or four color anyway?

OK shadowlight, here's the skinny on my CoC game:

GM: Me of course
System: d20 Call of Cthulhu
Game: Motor City Infest -- It's just another typical mid-January Friday night in downtown Detroit. The Wings are on the ice at JLA playing host to the hated Avs; the North American International Auto Show is underway; the streets are crowded with people on their way to the casinos and Windsor. Your characters are heading to their cars so they can go home after a long day. Sounds simple enough, but then real life horror stories always start with rather banal events don't they?
Players: This game is geared towards novice CoC players, but should provide enough thrills for veterans too. As such, PC's will be created on site to enhance the sense of loss :D ... but I'll bring some pregens just in case.

Josh:
Yes, this is the same game which began our Cthulhu campaign (now sadly on hiatus, but there is an expanded storyline, new twists, and expanded plot devices. Play if you'd like, but I certainly understand you not wanting to repeat even a portion of the same adventure during a Gameday.

shadowlight:
I will either get my buddies online to sign up for games this week, or handle things for them myself. In any event, you will have specific names and game slots reserved within a few days.

I'll have my description up in a jiffy, but in the meantime I was wondering if you need our race/class combos soon JDyal.
I'd like to start putting the characters together this week, so the sooner the better.

Part of that scenario's power is not knowing what's coming -- I guess it depends on how closely you'll hold to the same scenario we already ran. I'm real interested in it, but it seems like it wouldn't work well a second time around, just because I already know what to expect.

All nice and updated!

Great! Thanks!

I'm still now sure which game to sign up for in the afternoon (they both sound excellent). I'm guessing we'll get a bunch of new afternoon signups in the next week or so. I'm sort of waiting to see if we need to run a third slot in the afternoon...

Just to give us an idea of how sign-up is going (to help us figure out if we need a third slot in the morning or afternoon), I've gone back through the 3 threads about this particular gameday and pulled out all the people who have shown some interest in coming.

16 people have posted (or posted vicariously) on this thread, and another 6 have posted on the other two threads but not this one yet. So 22 people total (plus some people have mentioned bringing friends).

So far we have 11 people signed up in the morning and 4 of those people signed up in the afternoon!

So here's my open call for sign-ups :D

A2Z, Altalazar, broghammerj, cjyoung1, g33k0 gzus, Goddess FallenAngel, jhallum, Kurzak T, qstor, Tauric, & Ysgarran, come play! All the cool kids are doing it! If there's something you'd like to play but is not being offered, chime in! Maybe there's someone who's thinking about running it!

c a s e, Joshua Dyal, LazarusLong42, Remathilis, Shadowlight, Stockdale, & Tim A. Are you planning on coming to the afternoon session? (especially you Shadowlight! Come on, sign up alreary! :p)

Kender42, Protean, Quickbeam, & runecaster, you guys are the hardcore inspirations to us all!

Also, definitely bring friends with you! If you know people who are interested in a particular game, let me know so we can get the signed-up and let the GMs prepare for them. If you know people who might come or may decide to come at the last minute, you can still bring them along. Hopefully there will be some empty slots they can jump in, and there will probably be some side games as well.

Thanks everyone!

[blinks] I'm hardcore??? :)

I'm also not signed up for the afternoon, mainly because I'm not much into modern games. With 22 people, I think there's room for a third game in the afternoon, though, so I'm thinking (quickly, of course) about running a (yeah, I know, run-of-the-mill) 3.5 game in that slot. I'll confirm soon, especially if people show interest.

Edit: I just wanted to say--I think you (shadowlight) and JD are the real hardcore ones :)

Ooops! Clearly I lack the much-envied ability to Cut & Paste! I updated the list.

So far there are only 11 people coming, but hopefully we can get all 22 and their hundreds of friends!

I'm going to update the first post with the games people are offering to run. Hopefully that will help get the schedule solidified.
