Devil’S Due To Acquire Dungeons & Dragons Comics license

I don't think its an issue of munckin hacks so much as simple marketing - Drizzt has driven sales of a freakin' ton of books. To do Icewind Dale (which is more a coming of age tale and ensemble piece) first just does't make good business sense if they want to make their first one a big hit.

I was just thinking that they're following the new chronology anyway. Icewind Dale is renumbered in the series as #4 now I think in hardcover with a great cover by Todd Lockwood.

I might actually pick up a comic/graphic novel that was set in Greyhawk or Eberron. I've got no interest in anything Realms-based, though.

I've read quite a few Devil's Due comics, and I think they can pull this off. If they can make "G.I. Joe" worth reading they should be able to do good things with D&D.

there's always hope. :) i enjoyed their g.i.joe and transformers stuff before i stopped reading comics (oh, the sad irony of my life!) ;)

I've had the pleasure of adapting The Legend of Huma to comic book format, and I'm glad to see Devil's Due continuing the trend with other D&D properties.

Adapting these settings to comic book format is a great idea. I think it gives more exposure not only to the novel side of things, but also to the gaming side of things.

Plus, in the case of Spelljammer, that's a setting that may very well do better as a comic than as a game. We'll have to wait and see.

Looking forward to what's to come! :)

Realms and Dribble are definitely at the bottom of my list.

However, Eberron would be pretty cool: Follow the exploits of a group of Clifftop Adventuring Guild types. Gritty noir flavor. Sharn is an amazing backdrop. Lightnig Rail. Warforged. Dragonmarks... All cool.

Good Art and Good Writing are of course mandatory :).

The Devil is due to acquire D&D? *rimshot*

I thought he already owned it? *rimshot bis*

Does that mean that, contrarily to all evidence, Hasbro is not the Devil. *rimshot ter*

Devil's Due would do well to hire Todd Lockwood to paint the covers, much like Alex Ross does for DC Comics. THOSE would catch the eye in a comic book store.
Still, the arts and story writing gotta between the cover pages inside gotta deliver.

The site isn't working for me, but the idea of a "proper" D&D comic intrigues me. I just hope that they make it with a good artistic style (NOT cartoony) and reasonable writing quality. Might give me the kick I need to start comic-collecting. :D
You mean those DC Comic versions of D&D, Forgotten Realms, and Dragonlance were "improper"?
