Devil's Workshop & M&M Superlink

Hello this is Louis Porter Jr. With so many people wondering of the future of M&M Superlink and Devil’s Workshop, here is our official comment on it:

After nearly 60 products for the M&M Superlink and support for the brand, we at Devil’s Workshop have decided NOT to support for M&M 2nd Edition. I have spoken to all of our writers on this decision and they understand and agree to our reasoning why we are doing. We were the first and largest supporter of M&M Superlink and have done everything we believe to help with the success of the line. We feel we have gone well above the realm of helping make sure there were products available for gamer when several companies talked about supporting the brand but did nothing and produced virtually “vaporware”. I am glad we got a chance to do all these M&M Superlink products. It told me a lot of what we are capable of doing in this industry.

But, due to several issues that have come on the gaming marketplace and attitudes with particular individuals in and out of the companies involved, we felt it was best to do this. For our fans, I am sorry but this had to be done. I wish we could keep supporting this line, but we can’t and I am sorry for that. For all current subscribers of our Odds & Ends Super Powered Subscription as of September 17, 2005 you will receive each and every issue of Odds & Ends plus any two PDF products (your choice) that Louis Porter, Jr. Design has created. We at Devil’s Workshop think this fair for all your support of us for all this time. I personally will be handing this by sending out e-mails on this topic in the very near future. I am sorry this has to happen but it is something that had to be done.

Bad blood between Devil's Workshop and Green Ronin?

Let's just say there is a lot of stuff going on behind the scenes that I don't want to talk about, at least anymore. Let's just say, not everyone who says they want you to succeed in this industry really wants you to. Some time you got to do what you got to do. Trust me, it is for the best.

Any "bad blood" is news to me. After all, as Louis himself points out, Green Ronin has approved many dozens of M&M Superlink products from Devil's Workshop alone. The M&M Superlink program has very few conditions, but we do ask that those terms be abided (such as respecting our trademarks and PI). I like to think that it's a mutually beneficial program, but everyone must judge for themselves where that benefit lies.

So do this mean there won't be anymore Superlink products?

At all? No way! There are several publishers planning M&M Superlink products under 2E. Devil's Workshop has decided not to put out anything more, but the program isn't going away on Green Ronin's end.

There's a whole M&M Superlink section at the Mutants & Masterminds website (http://mutantsandmasterminds.com/superlink/) and a dedicated forum for M&M Superlink publishers at the Atomic Think Tank (http://www.atomicthinktank.com/) for people who are interested in M&M Superlink products.

I believe the Superline series from Ronin Arts will continue to be released in both Print and pdf formats. I think the pdf version of Superline #3 - Blast From the Past will be out by the end of the month. Then Phil will probably take orders for the print version.

Shew! Glad to hear that.

As an author appearing in Superline #3 (shameless plug), I have been told that Superline is continuing under the Superlink license, and will be 2E from now on.
