Hot Take Diablo-wise....While I don't think anyone wants to bring back nephilim as the focus of the franchise again,
I liked the concept of the Nephilim.

Yeah I don't think the fundamental concept was bad.
It was better after they released the expansion, before then I'd only played through the story of the base game then I quit because I didn't find the gameplay very fun.Loved Diablo 1 and 2. Especially 1 for is D&D-ness.
D3 was really lacking IMO. To often I had been told "Just beat it 3-4 times (or whatever) then it gets really good!"

The expansion was great, both from the standpoint of fixing the mechanics and the lore. There was a lot of Lilith chatter in the expansion that seemed to point to a second D3 expansion. Happily, we got to see her in D4 at least. It was better after they released the expansion, before then I'd only played through the story of the base game then I quit because I didn't find the gameplay very fun.
Watching the d4 trailer where she forms from the blood of those slain was pretty awesome, absolutely horrifying. One of the side quest chains follows the path of Elias and the others in the clip as he goes to summon her. I think the side quests are great for snippets of lore, though I don't often run through them again. The expansion was great, both from the standpoint of fixing the mechanics and the lore. Given that it's apparently impossible to truly kill Diablo, I'm hoping Lilith returns in an upcoming expansion or sequel and we get more of her story. She certainly seemed like a great frenemy to the people of Sanctuary and it seems like a waste to just have her be a big speedbump on the way to the Prime Evils (again).Watching the d4 trailer where she forms from the blood of those slain was pretty awesome, absolutely horrifying. While some of the authors are considered stars by much of the RPG industry they have made games that just aren't for me. Like you, I hope I'm wrong too. This will be so interesting to look at, but I'm hesitant to back it. The names on the game are great, and I own a lot of products by many of them. But, those names make me feel like the game may suffer from being much more than anyone expects of a Diablo game. I've told the story that a friend of mine backed the Avatar game thinking it would be all about amazing Bending combat. It was not. The names on that list that I know design games about introspection and telling complex stories, not about satisfying combat.
When I play Diablo, most of the game involves my character saying "I don't have enough mana for that" while blasting hordes of mobs.
Now I am 100% willing to be wrong about this, but I'm concerned. Maybe the result will be a game I would actually enjoy more, but I suspect there will be a lot of people wanting to see how many enemies they can chain with their powers.
