Dice Mojo Rituals

My kid had this elvish d20 from q-workshop and free rpg day. It disappeared. A few months later I was digging in the freezer and out dropped that d20.

He put it in there hoping that it would 'learn' that 20's should appear more often.

Strangely enough, I had a former roommate who did the exact same thing.

I set all my dice on the table with all the 1's face up. The odd logic is, if I had them face up on the highest number, it wouldn't come up a second time; so if 1 is showing on all the dice, odds of a 1 rolling up are less.

A friend of mine, years ago, was betrayed by his lucky d20, so he crushed it into powder in a mortal & pestle, poured it into his Mt. Dew and drank it in front of his other dice. One of the crazier things I've seen. D&D related at least.

I think he wins.

I just glare at my dice and switch out when they misbehave.

My Gamescience d6s were banned from a Shadowrun 3e game after I rolled a total of 17 dice after pool dice and karma point to reroll when making a fairly important but not that difficult(TN 4) check and got a total of two successes, which wasn't enough to keep Bad Things from happening to the party I happened to be driving around in my van as a Rigger at the time.

One of the other players shoved his dice at me and the GM made me re-roll from scratch. I succeeded easily. Those dice have never been used again.

Otherwise no real rituals. We do sometimes try to roll the 1s out, and if anyone touches my dice I immediately sprint to the sink and wash them, then shake them off and pass each one over the flame from a lighter to purify them.

I had a gentleman in a game that kept rolling 1's.

He once rolled three in a row. Then threw it at a wall and when it came to a stop on the floor it came up 1.

I took pity and grabbed it up and used it for the next attack on him.

I rolled a 20.

I have never seen him again.

This is exactly what I do. Another player of mine "charges" his dice face up on all 20's. So I started charging mine face up on all 1's and he always says, "Man, that freaks me out...I don't like looking at that".

If our dice start to roll low, we put them in the penalty box for a few rounds. It's an index card with a black box drawn in it :p

My handful of black d6 are only used for damage lest they tire out too early.

Of course, no one is allowed to use those but I have plenty of dice to shove at them lest they think I am being a jerk.

Percentage die... I have a combination of black and white dice that just look so swell together that I never break them up.

It made him disappear!?

I have my Magic Dice.

They are kept in the Magic Dice Box with various trinkets of luck.

No one gets to touch them except me. ;)

And ... some of my players actively fear this set of dice! :D

Well, in ye olde times, I would just switch dice in hoping that changing dice would bring more luck. I have players who hold onto that philosophy big time.

Nowadays, since I run, I just roll with whatever pops up though the last session, my dice were haaaaawt. I was critting left and right on the players. Good times. Good times. :p

Heaven help me, at 44 I still switch my die once I get two bad rolls in a row...:P
