Dice Roll Math

The Wizard ability enhanced blast (or whatever it's called) expands the radius of your spells by one, but decreases dice rolls by -2. Does this just take -2 off the total dice roll? Or does it only affect the dice part?

That is if I have a 1d6 + 4 ability, do I take the -2 from the 1d6 or the whole thing?

Null question.
4th edition has no minimum damage, so it doesn't matter where that -2 gets subtracted from in the formula. The final damage result is 1d6+2 in the given example.

It sounds like you're talking about Enlarge Spell, which reads (in part) as follows:

Benefit: Before using an arcane attack power, you can choose to take a -2 penalty to each die of damage rolled with the power to increase the size of its blast or its burst by 1.

For each die, you get a -2 penalty to damage, calculated the way Valhalla stated. 1d6+4 becomes 1d6+2. 2d6+4 becomes 2d6, no bonus. 3d6+4 becomes 3d6-2.
