Dices and legends

abri

Mad Scientist
I was reading Dork tower yesterday and was wondering: where does this story about touching other's dices come from (I know: KODT, but in RL?)?
Also any other strange customs that you have observed about dices?
And any legends about dices?

In my gaming club many believe that the more expensive a twenty sider is the better he'll roll for important rolls. Might be true as my dwarven stone lapi-lazuly dice has never failed me :D
Most of my players think that twenty siders need to be "warmed up" before the game start...

Gamers are about as superstitious as sailors. Each and every one has their own dice-idiosyncracies. Personally, I find that my dice tend to support me when I, as a player, stop worrying about how many hit-points my character has. If my character leaps into the fray without regard for personal safety, my dice back him up.

im known as the dice whore or dice porn star. I have to color coordinate my characters to dice. My undead ass kicking Lasher? All silver of course. The mysterious necromancer he party is fighting? Purple. My NPC cleric who is helping the party (she worships She Who Brings About The Endless Winter (Death and Cold))? My light blue dice with dark blue speckles

My dice all hate me, except when I'm the GM. The more important the roll, the worse they roll. Without fail. Still, there is enough comedic value that I don't get too depressed about it.

However, when I'm running the game, my dice are on fire! Fear me!

My Dice only back me up when I am about to die. If I'm fine, I'll roll horribly, but, if something threatens my barb so much that his life depends on the roll, he'll make it.

Also, our DM has a twenty sided we all fear nicknamed "Ol' Bluey". That beast rolls 20's like none of us can. When where fighting something that can only hit us on a 19 and up, he'll hit 1 outa 3 times.
