As I gather it, things mostly went to heck after the WizO team doing admin and coding work got disbanded around the time that Gleemax was first announced.

I'll say this - I could replicate everything they have there in one Drupal installation. And given Drupal is php and MySQL - with a competent system architect (see above)... it'd be up and running in less than a day.

Sometimes I wonder if the existing tech people at WOTC actively hire incompetent people so as to not let the new guy make the old hands look bad.

Harsh. Probably. Had they kept communication channels open then I would have used those channels. As it stands I can only rant. If I'm going to rant I might as well do it from the safety of a board where I know the moderators won't get all miffed and delete the post mysteriously -- there's been far too many accusations of that on the WotC boards for it not to be the case.

Yeah, you can only rant...but it was a very entertaining rant!

I've been consistently impressed with the quality of EN World, which is why I finally signed up for a Community Support account yesterday. (By the way - any chance it can be activated soon?)

Man oh man, I just CANNOT WAIT to start paying to access content on the Wizards site. My confidence level is HIGH!

Besides, it'll be reminiscent of being an AOL user when they broke ground by being the first internet provider to offer unlimited access for $20/month. Anybody who remembers those days remembers downloading auto-redialers to constantly try the numbers in order to connect after hours of busy signals.

I also find it ironic ENWorld2 seems to exactly what they wanted (blogs, wiki, blazing fast, and looking snazzy), has 70,000+ users now... and that all after Michael stopped working there.

It appears that now I can't access any of the boards. The forum list appears to be empty and if I try to use bookmarks I don't have sufficient privileges. Well, at least the gleemax forums are versatile in their inaccessibility.

I'm having the same problem. At least I copied down my post on their boards before they went down (so I can repost it here).
